Quick trip to Colorado Springs

Bree and I headed to Colorado Springs with my mom, grandma, sister and brother to see our new baby neice and also see the only dentist we like, Colman. This picture was at the Broadmore looking at the ginger bread villiage.

Lots of funny gas, two prayers, and a few tears later, Bree got two cavities filled. Uncle Colman was ready to quit his job! I hear that comes from the Bodily side.

Gratitude

With Thanksgiving approaching, I've been reflecting on my many blessings.

Elder Hales recently said, "Gratitude, expressed to our Heavenly Father in prayer for what we have, brings a calming peace,” he said, “a peace which allows us to not canker our souls for what we don’t have. Gratitude brings a peace that helps us overcome the pain of adversity and failure. Gratitude on a daily basis means we express appreciation for what we have now without qualification for what we had in the past or desire in the future.”

I am so grateful for my sweetheart, help mate and husband...Craig.

This weekend he and his brother, Ryan spent over 16 hours fixing my car. (thank you Ryan)

I'm so grateful for my children who are my joy and my purpose.

I am grateful for amazing friends both here and throughout my life who understand and support me.

I express appreciation for my parents and Craig's parents.

I'm thankful for not only all the good in my life but also the hardship and challenges of daily life. My life is not perfect, but I know all experiences are for my good.

My deepest gratitude is for the atoning sacrifice of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

I express my thankfulness for my blessed life.

Craig and I enjoyed a long awaited vacation to Puerto Vallarta with our friends the Wellings and Bodells.

HIGHLIGHTS include...the hot weather, zip line tour in the Jungle, the beach, swimming in the ocean, hiking old town, time with my boy, playing beach volleyball, an awesome massage, an amazing rain storm, great food and chips and guacamole, time with friends laughing and the trees!!

LOWS include...wondering if the hurricane was coming before we flew out, missing my babies.

Thanks so much mom and Melissa for your help with the babies! I'm sure you need a vacation now!

The girls raised money for their school this week by running 1 mile at the Jog-A-Thon.

They ran hard. They ran fast! Baylee took 5th in 3rd grade girls, and Bree took 3rd in kindergarten girls.

We celebrated with snow-cones, popcorn, and pizza. Counter productive....but whatever. I was proud.

Today Brielle Hope turned 6 years old.

It seems like yesterday I headed to the hospital 6 weeks early and was suprised with my little primie.

She is sweet, smart, talented, happy, and gives the best hugs.

Which explains why I wake up to her in my bed every morning snuggling us.

She LOVES pancakes and going to IHOP for daddy daughter dates.

Bree is a country girl at heart, and loves time at the Humble ranch on the horses or fishing with Grandpa Ed.

She is a joy.

First Day of School and Labor Day

Baylee and her friend started their first day of school on August 23 at Willow Springs Elementary. Baylee has Mrs Olsen in 3rd grade.

My sweet Bree is in kindergarten. She is five and so ready! She has Mrs. Toraya and is so excited!

We headed to Raft River Idaho for a little camping, zip line'en, tubing, and hanging with the HUMBLEs. The kids were in heaven! We even camped under the stars next to a waterfall at night!

One of the MOST SPECIAL memories at Papa Ed and Grammy Sharron's house in Logan, is the ENDLESS Supply of Creamies. The kids consumed over 200 Cremies in a few days! Miraculously the next time we arrive, the freezer is full once again!

Fair Time

It's that time of year again.

Time for snow cones, cotton candy and carnival rides at our small hometown fair.

We rode horses, ate fresh garden pees, rode four-wheelers, floated the river in Lava, watched the rodeo, pig wrestling, and demolition derby. Wheww!

It takes work to have this much fun!!

Hike and Humble time

The entire Humble Clan (except Hollie) gathered for a fun weekend of

boating, fireworks, riding horses, and celebrating Melissa's 26th b-day. All in our HOMETOWN, SS Idaho!

Riding horses always make us feel like we are home, where things are simpler, calm, and easy.
The horses are creating sweet memories of the Humble Ranch for my children.
Baylee loves to ride "Reed Blake" names after my dads mission companion Reed.

Earlier in the week for family night, we joined the Blankenstiens for a little hike near our home in Draper. The kids were amazing and the views were incredible! We left the night re-committed to take advantage of the beautiful Utah trails more often.

Ragnar 2011! Wheew! I had a ball again this year running the Wasatch Back. I loved my team. I loved my van or fun and supportive gals. I loved that Craig ran with me 6 of my 8 miles on my last run with his knee in recovery. I loved watching the "first timers" on our team accomplish a great goal!

Every Day Moment

Two or three times a week, Craig takes the kids on a four-wheeler ride.

Baylee and Bree take turns driving while Craig coaches them on proper wheelin' technique.

Usually it's their special time, while I get some "quiet time" at home.

Tonight I joined them.

It began with Baylee coaching me how to drive on our way down to the Jordan River trail while looking for fox. "Stay out of the ruts, mom!"

Tonight we saw two fox and Bree said, "Mom's good luck, because she is cute."

Then it was off in the tall grass to find deer. The girls spotted four. We stopped and watched them.

Bowen said, "Bye bye deer."

Next, it was Brielle's turn to drive past the rock pile to find rock chucks that sit on top and they spotted six.

The mountains, weather, and views were beautiful.

I'm grateful for Craig and this special memory he is creating with our babies and I look forward to this next weeks report, "Mom we saw, 3 deer, 4 rock chucks, 2 ducks, and a fox."

What a busy week....

Friday, Saturday, Sunday Craig and I used our Grand American Getaway weekend for our 12th year Anniversary and had a ball!! And yes...the babysitter did survive...Thanks Scott and Annette! Highlight-spending much need time with my hunka, hunka, burning love!

Tuesday --After a long days work, we met up with dear friends to celebrate Jamie's S. birthday and see the fabulous, amazing, inspiring.....U2 in SLC. Highlight: Singing "It's a beautiful day" at the top of my lungs with friends.

Wednesday- Definitely a blur of work, kids and soccer practice.

Thursday Morning was Brielle's Preschool Program where she performed poetry, songs, and their violins! Highlight: Listening to her memorized reading of the Spider and the Fly! Amazing!

Thursday Afternoon-Soccer game day! Go Baylee and the Red Dragons! Highlight-watching her aggressive play!

Friday-Craig attended Baylee's field trip. Highlight-Stopping to take time to watch her play.

Saturday-After a long day working in the yard (moving 4 Tons of mulch) we enjoyed Cafe Rio and sang Happy Birthday to our little two year old!! Highlight-Watching him open his new bat and ball

Sunday-Off to Logan for the day to spend some time with Ed and Sharron, enjoy a great dinner, and visit Godfrey grave sites for Memorial Day! Highlight: Being back in the country with extended family.

Seeing Pink-Race for the Cure

On Saturday the Humble Clan (Bodily's,Christensen's, Olivers, Colman, Melissa) gathered to run the SLC Race for a Cure for Gary and Cynthia Christensen. We had a hoot riding TRAX and running the race together. One of my favorite shirts I saw someone wearing was "Of course these are fake, the first ones tried to kill me." It's the only day where you can see guys wearing shirts like, "I'm just here for the boob-ies," and it's ok.

Easter in Sin City

This week we joined 20 or so family's from our area for Spring Break in Vegas. Who doesn't love more sun, and for us, it was really needed. We loved getting to know our friends better and spending time at the pool, dinners, bowling, movie, and Vegas outings. (I loved this photo of BO smiling despite being sick.)

Saturday we watched our nephew, Cooper Vest in a championship baseball game. They are such good little players. I always love when Craig and Annette get together because they just laugh and laugh!

Every year Tricia Ashby and our team host a Easter Egg hunt for our clients and friends. This year the weather was beautiful, we stuffed 5000 eggs, and kids at every age ran their little hearts out to retrieve baskets full of eggs. My favorite is the adult hunt! Grown adults running for prizes. Too Cute!

Craig turned 34 on April 13. I remember when I sent him a birthday card from Idaho to California for his 17th birthday. He truly is the love of my lifetime and I often find myself taking him for granted. Why do we do that to the ones we love the most? It's Humble tradition to ski the last day at Beaver resort in Logan. This year Cassie, Colman and Kesley came from Colorado and met Mom, Dad and me. It was an amazing, beautiful bright day with fresh powder and sun (a perfect combo)

This week Craig had a check up on the knee. We are week two of six with crutches!

Four Eyes! Baylee was complaining about not seeing the board at school and its true, she needs glasses. She was so cute once they came, "Daddy, I can see you whiskers and the mole on your face!"

Last weekend Robin and I attended Craig and Brandon's mission reunion, Spain. Here they are with their mission president, Pres. Lopez.

Happy Knee Day

He did it! Four IV's, a shaved leg, and some major anesthesia later, Craig survived his knew reconstruction, Friday. We are so grateful to Craig's parents for helping us get through the first few days. My parents for taking our kids for the week and brother Kesley for staying with us this week to help out. Also thanks to our dear friends Wellings, Stakers, and Bodells who have bee a huge support and brought us meals! We love you all. Now if I can just force Craig to take it easy!

Good vs. Bad

The last few days I have been a bit emotional (which being a HUMBLE girl-not unusual). Poor Me. Poor Craig.

Here's the break down....Bad vs. Good

The Bad

A rough run 5.5 miles that kicked my butt in the wind (both ways)

Feeling unsupported and discouraged in Craig's little business venture, despite his major strides forward.

One of my three RE homes fell through due to lending issues.

Another one may fall through due to lack of bank approval. Short Sales stink!

Bowen was nuts at Texas Road House for dinner (he actually threw food...at people)

My house is a MESS.
Craig needs knee reconstruction.

The Good

I can run however slowly I may go.

Great dinner and temple session with our ward last Friday.

A supportive phone call from my dear friend, Robin.

One RE client is closing this week!

Excited to teach my relief society lesson.

I didn't have to cook dinner tonight thanks to Texas Road House.

Craig went grocery shopping and took the kids swimming so I could show houses.

I have a house.
Our dear friend's, Tyson and Brandon connected Craig to one of the best doctors and got him scheduled for appointments, and surgery this Friday. We are SO GRATEFUL!

Anyone else have days like these? I'm sure it's just me! Overall, I'm grateful for my life, my divine role as a mother, my job, my husband and kids, my health, my skin and family.
Luckily "The sun will come out tomorrow." Right?

Baptized Baylee

Our first born was baptized Feb 5, 2010.

How is it possible she is eight years old?

I remember her all dressed up in her first little white dress, the day she was blessed.

My perfect little package, so small in her daddy's arms.

On this day she is all dress up again, beautiful, giggly, clean, and pure....we are so proud of her.

We are so grateful for all our family and friends who came from far and wide to share this special day with Baylee and us!! We feel so blessed to have you in our lives!

The next week Baylee got to watch one of her best friends, Avery get baptized. It's so fun to see these girls grow up together.

Today I was finishing up my RS lesson on Sacrifice and this thought stood out to me for me.

"We must avoid saturating our children with material things. We may deprive a child of enjoyment when we give him too much. If we never allow him to want something, he will never enjoy the pleasure of receiving it. Are we encouraging our children to sacrifice by giving their time and resources, such as befriending someone who needs it or helping. As they concentrate on the needs of others, their own needs become less important. True joy comes from sacrificing for others."

Today we feel so grateful for the safety of our dear friends, Brandon and Burke, who last night were caught in freezing temperatures near Oakley snowmobiling. Craig was up the entire night while search and rescue began the search. Finally, we heard around 4:30 a.m. that they were on foot, left their snowmobiles and were trying to hike out. Later they were found by Summit County search and rescue.

We are blessed to have people who volunteer their time to help those in life and death situation. Thanks Summit County!

We are blessed for such a positive outcome.

We are blessed that no one else was hurt in the search.

We are blessed to have Brandon, Burke and our husbands who were helping, all home safe with their wives!

This weekend I had the chance to go to Time Out for Women in downtown Salt Lake presented by Deseret Book with some friends from my ward. We enjoyed great food, conversation, inspiring messages and music at the conference and a late night of laughter. I came home with new resolve to refocus on being a better mother and doing a better job enjoying the important moments and really teaching my kids. Too often I'm so caught up in the day to day To Do's I really miss the chances to instruct, teach, be more kind and loving. I left wanting to be/do better/more.

Happy Halloween! Our Colorado cousins came to visit and go trick or treating. While it's always so crazy getting everyone ready and out the door-it's a ball when they are ready to hit the door knocking.

On Thursday, Miss Melissa Keller held an AMAZING edict witches tea for her preschool, complete with a five course meal, Shakespeare reading, and china! UNBELIEVABLE.

Our dear neighbor and friend Janell, invited a few of the neighborhood moms and their children to their family cabin in Island Park, ID. We headed off for the 5 hour drive (note 7 hours with children) for a great adventure, and we found it. The kids loved the never ending neighborhood party with hikes, games, time by the lake and hot tub fun. Thanks so much JB for an amazing time for our kids.

A day at the beach

We finally did it, our first trip to Disneyland and California Adventure. Along for their first trip was my parents, sister and brother. What a fun adventure and a magical time.

After a few days at the park, a day at Newport beach was perfect! The kids loved playing in the sand, water, and feeding the birds. Dad took a nap (Disney was a bit much for the ol' man) and mom feed the birds. Thank goodness I have my sister to take such fun photos!

Colorado Springs

This past week Bree, Bo and I headed to Colorado to visit my brother, Miles and sister, Cassie and her family. One of the highlights was going to the top of Pikes Peak on the Cog Rail. BEAUTIFUL!

Miles was an amazing HOST and we had ball hanging with the cousins!

Bo and I fly home a bit early. Here is is on his first flight of his life with his little broken leg (another story for another post)

This was the crazy monkey running wild in the seat. Luckily we had the row to ourselves. Traveling with a 16 month old...not recommended EVER!

Where were you during the torrential down pour today between noon and two?

I was here...driving my BIG truck through a GIANT puddle on our street and drenching the neighborhood kids! (thanks Jamie for the awesome picture and zucchini bread)

They asked for it! After the storm, and cleaning up some minor flooding, the girls and I waded through this new lake at the park down our street and got drenched! I haven't laughed that hard in a long time!

Fair Fun and Near Death Jump

This week was spent at the CARIBOU COUNTY FAIR in Grace, ID. We camped with my parents who put it all together. Small town fairs are the BEST...hand dipped corn dogs, scones, cotton candy, rodeo's, pig wrestling, demolition derby, peaches n'cream, seeing old friends and a hilarious hypnotists!

Craig, Mike, Dad, and Jordan formed "Luau Time" pig wrestling team on Friday night. While they didn't win the jackpot of money, they won the official title of REDNECKS.

Craig, Tyson Blake, Jordan, and Kesley swam down the canal, also called "flume" (for my Idaho peeps) and later jumped off this 50-60 foot bridge. Apparently they don't fear death, despite having wives and children! CRAZY BOYS!

Yesterday I walked outside to check on the girls (and the gang they run with in the summer) and this is what I saw. The Missionaries in our stake were given a little message about faith, repentance and baptism. The children were intrigued and closed with "I want to see the temple." Adorable!

Could it be true? The other man in my life is turning one Friday, May 28th? Oh how this year has flown by! It seems like I was just walking into Alta View hospital for my scheduled c-section with Craig at my side. Less than an hour later saw him! My beautiful BOY! We coulnd' decide what to name him, Blake, Brandon or Bowen. Now Bowen is crawling, almost walking, smiling, laughing, eating a ton and playing his little heart out! He thinks it's funny to drop things and watch you pick it up for him so he can throw it again. He is sweet, happy, an amazing sleeper and loves his snacks. Happy Birthday my beautiful boy!

I surprised Craig with an overnighter to Park City.

We stayed here at the modern Sky Lodge at the bottom of Main Street

We sat in the Jacuzzi and reflect on our favorite all time marriage memories including our first anniversary at a laundry mat because we didn't have a washer and dryer!

I love this boy!

We has a wonderful time together, talking, running, eating, shopping and sleeping in.

Then we drove home to see our chicklets and made them smores by the fire. Perfect!

My New Life

About a year ago, a friend told me about Nei Nei's blog (see below/right.) I began reading her daily blog like a book beginning in 2005. She inspired me to try and be a better mother and enjoy the special moments of everyday life. I contnued to read a few years later of her and her husband's survival in a small plan crash, nine months in a coma, her recovery, on the Oprah show, and now she is blogging again. Stepanie still is a daily inspiration to me. My church just made a short YouTube video about them...Be INSPIRED and take a look!

Now, I consider her one of my most precious gifts in life as a sister and friend.
This girl can rock climb, water ski, snow ski and remodel or paint anything! Currently working on house number six!

She loves MUSIC and I used to make fun of her dancing & jamming in her truck.

She is humble, serving, giving, and a wonderful mom to her three children.

He helps cook, does dishes, accomplishes the yardwork and makes me feel beautiful, even when I'm pregnant!

Colman filled one of his empty rooms with fun toys and paper for the girls to jump into in.

We visited the Will Rogers Shrine of the Sun that overlooks Colorado Springs. It was beautiful, it was intriguing, and I loved it. The girls loved climbing to the top and acting like princesses.

After 10 brave hours with three children, my sister Melissa and I arrived in beautiful Colorado Springs, CO. It's beautiful here with stunning mountains in the West and endless views in the East. All my siblings are here with the exception of Hollie who just had baby Abby. How great it is to see and spend time with them all, see where they live work and play.

We spent most the day at the Zoo with the kids. The exhibits were amazing.

This is me at 9:15 p.m. at the end of "Quite the Day"

9:30 this morning I was feeling GOOD-house was clean, girls in school, laundry folded--all the normal mom stuff...

Then at 11:45 Bowen took a header off my bed (learning to crawl week)...knocked him right out! Perfect, rattled my kids brain. Awesome.

Feeling good again after getting baby fed, lunch made for girls and friends, checked e-mails, followed up on house contracts and returned realtor messages...SWEET.

Make a sit-down-dinner for my family and enjoy talking about our HIGHS and LOWS of the day

6:30 p.m. Bree puts the back of one of my ear rings down her ear...Yep-clear down there!

Luckily my in-laws walk in the door at that exact moment like angles from heaven to help assist with the procedure, and later watch the kids while Craig, Bree and I head to the doctors for a serious extraction. LOVELY.

8 p.m. Happy to see my Bree NOT SCREAMING and for reward, take her to the grocery story to pick out some "Easter Maush-mellows" for not kicking the doctor in the face.

9 p.m. My honey is off to Logan to work tomorrow and here I am enjoying the quiet, missing my man and happy to blog and to complete "Quite the Day".

We met the Humble grandparents and the Bodily grandparents at Bever mountain for a fun day of skiing. Baylee did great and Bree was awesome for her first day. We also loved catching up with the Woodland clan and my ol'roomy Teresa Bingham.

Grandma Toni plays games at the Lodge. Fun!

SUNDAY

We made it back from Logan in time for the most beautiful and special blessing day of Ty Bodell. Tiny Ty is here with Grandma Bodell and Grandma Patricia.

After working Monday and Tuesday I was a good 7 loads behind on laundry and speant a good 4 hours washing, drying, folding and putting it away. Does this ever happen to you???

Annette is the third child and second daughter in the Bodily clan. This gal is the full package...outgoing, smart, spiritual, generous, and gorgous inside and out.

She's the kind of mother you want to be. The kind of wife you esteem and the sister in law everyone deserves.

This gal is a runner.. and when I say runner.... I mean SIX marathons, multiple half marathons and 10 milers, and a 190 mile relay from Logan to Jackson. By the way, this is why I recruited her for our Wasatch Back team in June.

Just watching her cross the finish line of her SECOND (I think?) St. George marathon inspired Craig and I to begin training for one the next year. (note: NEVER will be repeated)
